historyCEI-De Meyer nv was formed from the merger of the construction companies CEI and De Meyer in 2006. De Meyer started its activities as a small family construction company in 1877. The construction company L.L and N. De Meyer was established on 4 December 1925 in the form of a company under a common name. On 29 June 1936 the company was transformed into a private limited liability company and finally into a limited liability company on 27 September 1973. In 1995 the shareholding of the nv LL. and N. De Meyer, which had until that time always been owned by the family, was transferred to the Dutch construction group Strukton and the name was changed to nv Strukton-De Meyer. In 2001 the Koninklijke BAM Group became the new shareholder and the company was given its original name again nv De Meyer.CEI originated in 1937 when the groupe Union des Centrales Electriques - one of the pillars of what is now Electrabel - decided to set-up a "contracting" division. That was how Constructions et Entreprises Industrielles was created as a division of the study office Bureau d’Etudes Industrielles Ferdinand Courtoy. On 28 June 1945, immediately after the end of the Second World War the nv Constructies, Electriciteitswerken, Industriebouw, abbreviated CEI, was founded. The company objective was to participate actively in rebuilding our country. In 1973 HBG (Hollandsche Beton Groep nv) became the principal shareholder of CEI. At the end of 2002 HBG was taken over by Koninklijke BAM Groep, which thereby became the new shareholder of CEI. At the end of 2005 Koninklijke BAM Groep nv, who in the meantime had become the shareholder of De Meyer and CEI, decided to merge the construction activities of its two subsidiaries. As of 1 May 2006 the "construction" business sector, in other words all contracting activities of the nv De Meyer, were consequently transferred to CEI, which had changed its name in the meantime to CEI-De Meyer nv. CEI-De Meyer nv now has approximately 600 members of staff and its activities are concentrated mainly on building, civil engineering and industrial projects. The registered office is located in Brussels, where the general services and building division Brussels are situated. The buildings Ghent and Infra divisions are situated in Nazareth. In addition to the core activities mentioned, CEI-De Meyer also has a dredging and excavation division with its headquarters in Zele. The real estate activities and project development are carried out by the nv Immo BAM, which also has its registered office in Brussels.
